First off, I haven't seen the Korra cartoon so I understand very little about this spergout. I only saw the first Avatar series which I would describe as a fun waste of time cartoon, but not incredible.
If someone can post a TL;DW of what the frick these people are talking about it for semi-normies like me, I'd appreciate it.
With that out of the way:

I chatted with an neurodivergent fan of it a while ago so i learned a few things from it.
Basically the original Avatar was a cartoon show with major influences from anime (and the expected neurodivergent debate around how to classify it) that got a cult following from terminally online neurodivergents who used to watch it. It doesn't seem that good, but there's a surprising amount of care put into some details, and people praise its writing a lot so i just assume it's a decent cartoon show for kids.
Much later, it ended up getting a sequel (Korra), which on top of placing the setting much further in time (feeling more like the 1920's/1930's rather than the soft 19th century of the original series) retconned a LOT of things for the worst, kinda turned the original cast of the series into a bunch of fools (à la Luke Skywalker, if you've seen that debacle) and in general shat on the established lore. Its main character was also noticeably... Mary Sue-ish, being excessively powerful (unless unconvenient) and kind of a b-word in general.
This issue was highly compounded when she was compared to Aang, the former main character, who was much more diplomatic, much more bearable in general and was basically a Superman-ish kind of figure who's main weakness was actually being too trusting of a guy. I don't remember the show's end but i'm fairly sure that he ended up actually accomplishing his duty and did it well, only to have his actions retconned in the sequel.
Said main character was also the center of a "big" controversy. Turns out, since the original show attracted a bunch of neurodivergent fans, when the sequel came out those same grown-up manchildren had newfound priorities, and thus began a bunch of annoying-butt shipping wars, with a twist.
You see, the beginning of the series iiirc revolved around a classic boring butt love triangle, but a lot of the fans were not interested in it. You might think that's good, but actually they were simply rabidly pushing in another direction, wanting instead the female heroine to end up with another chick of the cast. It might not seem like much, but since this was already some time ago there was a big push for it because of the whole "oh my god le representation !" thing, and it eventually ended up becoming canon, though i think people are not sure if it was indeed "intended all along" as some people claim.
I'm also fairly sure the show ends with some massively nonsensical shit like the normal people's world being filled with weird butt dangerous spirits and the main character just goes oh well now we just gotta learn to live together :3333 don't be bigots pwease ;3333
Neurodivergent wars aside, from the few excerpts i remember the show had some good ideas here and there (what happens to stuff like martial arts and all that require a lot of training and discipline once technology rolls in and makes all of it meaningless) but constantly shat the bed and relied heavily on conveniences.
TL;DR : mid cartoon show got a shit sequel that gaybaited to get people behind it, now there's another sequel planned and it's probably gonna be shit.

I've had a Zoomer fan explain it to me as well and it seems that Korra was hated cause she was kind of a meathead without much charisma. The setting seemed cool though, but it's probably not worth watching since it seems like YA slop in cartoon form.

She's supposed to be a hormonal teenage girl. That doesn't mean she is badly written, in fact it's the opposite she was a well written teenage girl

The lesbian thing is worse than how you describe it.
The original love triangle happens in the first season, then gets abandoned because it was shit and everyone hated it. There were then 3 more seasons in which Korra doesn't have any real interpersonal relationship development, no hints at romance whatsoever.
However, internet losers being internet losers, there were plenty of people talking about how different characters should totally get together, including korra and the other main chick (who was also shown as being basically straight in season 1).
Keep in mind there was not a single second of these two characters acting in any way romantic towards each other, right up until the very last shot of the entire series. The 4th season was once again a bit shit, so presumably to bring fans back onside the final shot was of the two girls holding hands and looking at each other before going into a portal. That's it. Literally just the laziest last minute insert to try and salvage another crap ending

dude, you really need to start giving your full attention to the TV shows you watch. Don't be scrolling on tiktok while you're watching stuff on the TV like an ADHD zoomer.

if you want a relatively entertaining breakdown of the show, i highly recommend E;R's channel. He's an neurodivergent (that's to be expected tbh) but he's one of the few remaining chuddy media slop reviewers that can be pretty fun.

This is wrong on so many levels.
Tf are you talking about? Old Toph is still a badass who kicks butt. Old Katara is more mellow but that's understandable because she isn't a 14 year old girl anymore. Old Zuko becomes a powerful leader but a chill one just like his uncle iroh
Fricking bullshit. She lost so many fights way more fights than Aang did. The fan who told you this never watched the show I'm convinced of that. And being excessively powerful is literally what the avatar is supposed to be.

I liked Korra's character arc from a hot headed teenager to a mature woman. the problem is that the start of season 2 regresses her character back from whatever development she got in season 1. Bad choice by the writers there.
