There was that one "documentary" recently that whitewashed the Rajneeshis and portrayed them as misguided "idealistic" children who had their hearts in the right places. But Uncle Ted isn't gonna get that same treatment. There's a lot of reasons for this that would take as many as 2 paragraphs for me to explain, but I'll keep it short and just point out that the people who ran the media in that era were from New York and just as out of touch with America as NYC is now. And there was already a lot of arrested development "have s*x!" stuff where people aren't growing up past being Beavis and Butthead going on back then. So a drug & orgy cult attempting genocide is cool because omg they got laid!!! But a guy out in a cabin in the woods, he must be weird and strange and creepy.
