Southern Marsey

Someone requested a southern Marsey, and I decided to try and draw one. I don't remember who it was and too lazy to check, but gimme dramacoin anyway :marseytwerking:

I find these stereotypes to be offensive, and might I guess that southern marsey is a slave owner. You should do like ole miss and turn him into a racist black bear instead

What if he's the Thomas Sutpen type of Southerner?

Especially so, grifting isn’t a southern thing uniquely

God, grifter is such an ugly way to put it. But you're not wrong. Maybe we're all grifters too. Maybe that's why we accepted him. Maybe our entire culture is just a grift.

I’m def a grifter, most of us are. Our β€˜culture’ is one big grift. Our entire system is based on fraud, the central bank

I meant Southern culture. Is it that we're all about appearances, is that a grift? Is it always a grift?

Do we fear the very idea of cultural legitimacy?

Quite to the contrary the south is one of the only places in the US that has culture that isn’t based purely on consumerism. Southern culture has taken a bit of a hit over recent times since globohomo is threatened by its individualism and the libertarian/federalist nature of the south.

@carpathianflorist why wouldn’t I have gotten of ping for this response? Is there some setting I might have on?

No, we are based on consumerism now. Very much. Southern is about what you have. Realtree camo, Yeti coolers, your new 60k truck. Megachurches, AC, and money. We dress like we're fricking midwestern and listen to the same music, a nebulous pop "country". We are now homogenous with the midwest, the Black Southerner completely forgotten. We now define ourselves solely in opposition to the urban, which is synonymous with black to us.

We do not eat traditional foods, or play traditional music. We do not even use our dialect anymore.

It's all dead. The dream is dead. And we'll all die with it soon enough.
