For me, the benefits outweigh the downsides. I love making my own schedule, making as much money as I want, being able to travel and still have time for my family, being able to provide my family with a life they wouldn't have ever experienced without my income and free time, and having a huge degree of control over every aspect of my life.

You know that scenario happens to people in “non transactional” relationships all the time? It happens to women married to men all the time. Studies literally show that women get sick/diagnosed with terminal illnesses their husbands and boyfriends leave them.

Parents die in nursing homes alone knowing their children didn’t care about them. Really imploring to you let go of these misconceptions about openly transacational relationships and demonizing them over the relationships we like to pretend aren’t transacational but also are.
