What is the Church of Prismatic Light?

✨We are the first church in the Prismatic faith which is an LGBTQIA+ focused religion that values the true self.

What are the Seven Tenets?

The Seven Tenets

Can I be a part of another religion and still join?

✨Yes! Prismatism is non exclusionary

Do you worship a deity?

✨No. We celebrate the love of your true self and your identity as a human being.

Is there a statement of faith?

✨Yes! We believe like the emanations of light through a prism that we are all unique and beautiful beings worthy of love, self discovery and dignity.

Are you affiliated with another religion?

✨No. We are an entire new religion, separate to all others.

Will there be a website where we can officially join the church?

✨Yes! It’s being made right now! Membership is free!

Will you fundraise?

✨We have a donation link in the website and all donations will be used to create promotional material, start services for LGBT youth, and to cover any future legal fees.

How do I become ordained?

✨ Once the non profit status is approved we will begin ordaining Priestx.

Can I start a local chapter in my state?

✨Eventually! First we need to get federally recognized as a church and are working towards that now!

How can we help?

✨We need publicity! Spread on social media and word of mouth. Make art! Help us make merchandise we can wear at Pride! There’s lots of ways to help us grow!

How is this different that The Satanic Temple?

✨ We are more LGBT focused but do share a lot of similar ideas! Prismatism has transitioning as a sacred ritual.

Where is church service held?

✨Service is held Saturday from 6pm-7pm central standard time on the church’s TikTok page

Will there ever be in person services?

✨We sure hope so! We’d love to be able to grow enough to have physical building where we could bring communities together and offer services and resources.

I will add more to this list as questions continue. Love and light from your High Priestx ✨🌈

There are seven key tenets of Prismatic faith. These are inalienable rights to each member of the faith. They are as follows:

  • The innate worth and dignity of every individual

  • The inherent right to discover and accept one’s true self and take the steps necessary to present that true self to the world

  • Love is love, and every person has an inherent right to consensual love between adults (including self love) without discrimination

  • The inherent right to bodily autonomy which is subject to their will alone.

  • All beings must act with compassion and empathy towards all living things to the best of their ability

  • The inherent right to receive affirming medical care. Medical decisions are at the discretion of the individual and their healthcare providers alone, and shall not be infringed upon. This includes gender affirming medical care and/or medical reproductive care.

  • It is our intrinsic duty to fight for the oppressed and to stand against our oppressors when injustice is being done.

Origin Story!

I did a radical thing to help fight these oppressive anti trans laws and wanted to share with y’all

I have a teenager who is FTM transgender. We live in Oklahoma and 3 days ago he told me he’d end his own life if laws like the one in Alabama passed here in Oklahoma and he could no longer get his testosterone treatment.

I am fed up. I am mostly a total nobody but one thing I do have is a large following on TikTok. So I had this radical idea and shared it with them and boy oh boy is it gaining momentum so I figured I should share it here, too.

Basically all of these anti trans bills are being funded by Christian nationalist legal organizations like the ADF and ALEC behind the scenes. All done under the guise of religious freedom. Well WHAT IF I started a new religion whose tenets of faith INCLUDED gender affirming medical care and transitioning as a part of its core doctrine. It’s not unheard of! The Satanic Temple has abortion as a religious ritual and has had some success. And it’s not hard to start a church. John Oliver started one on his show. So I asked my followers. What if we really did this.

Well it’s 24 hours later and we have over 22,000 members, I gathered a board of directors and we submitted the paperwork to be a non profit, and it’s blowing the frick up all over TikTok. Turns out people are as serious as I was about using these fascists own playbook against them.

Maybe it’s stupid. But I have officially started The Church of Prismatic Light and I’m working to be federally recognized as a religion. One that can be used if states try to ban HRT or pass other anti trans laws as violating OUR Religious freedom.

No idea how this will go but darn it it’s worth a shot and I’m tired of not being able to fight back. So wish me luck I guess, because yeah, I just started a grassroots movement.

(PS it’s a secular religion with no diety just the love of your true self)

You know it really sucks that some of the people running any sort of LGBT youth services are these fricking weirdos. I really wish it had been more normalized to be gay when I was a kid. Being in the closet really sucked as a youth and a teenager. I wish I did have authority figures in school that I could have talked to.

But I also understand a lot of the concerns in the straggot community about how weirdos actually do use this shit for grooming. I know I have to normalize for reporting bias but I still see the shit way too often. And worse, defended by people in the LGBT community are worried about having used against them as an attack.

All the r-slurs on both sides of this culture war are really fricking up this latest generation of kids.

It seems like the generations that came after X had it much easier if they were gay. There were sort of groups in school and whatnot. There was an anti-bullying movement in schools that was good... but I feel like it went too far.

Now reading about these kids that got socialized young online on tumblr it seems like it was a cyber woke lord of the flies environment. The "weirder" you were, the better. Your voice didn't matter unless you were in a "marginalized" group.

When I was young in school...none of us were thinking about our sexuality. At the youngest ages it was common for girls to think boys were gross and for boys to think girls had cooties. Now imagine your teacher overhearing a playground argument and calling you over to say, "Sally, Ben... I'm SO HAPPY that you feel comfortable enough around me to talk about your sexual orientation! It's totally FINE for girls to not like boys and boys to not like girls! In fact, I'm MARRIED to a girl!"

And these are all valid concerns. At the same time there's elements among the right that really want to use the culture war to attack gay kids.

I've seen the groomercord chat logs of people using LGBT for grooming. I've seen the teachers that have an inappropriate lesson plans. I've also seen the writers of the Florida school bill explicitly say that they wrote the bill to put LGBT back in the closet. I've read the rightoid forms where they believe that gay kids don't exist.

Radical centrism is always right. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

And until the adults can reconcile this shit amongst ourselves, the kids will be the ones that continue to be hurt by it.

You know, I really don't see much on normal rightoid forums that are talking about shoving anyone back in the closet. Acceptance of homosexuality in the right wing community has become the norm. I think that's why a lot of us are REALLY pissed about the gender grooming and the T part of the alphabets insisting that their rights subsume everyone else's.

I've read the rightoid forms where they believe that gay kids don't exist.

https://www.newsweek.com/nearly-40-percent-us-gen-zs-30-percent-christians-identify-lgbtq-poll-shows-1641085

I find that really bizarre and shocking. I'm equally baffled when I see some people say that NOT talking about queerness to young children is grooming them to be straight.

I get that children need support, I also think we need to remain cognizant that kids are malleable and sometimes downright weird.

As to the Florida Bill, I don't see anything wrong with it. There was one part that was questionable, but that has been removed, I believe.

Literally seeing some of the shit being injected into school curriculums in blue states has me scratching my head. I don't know how the adults are going to reconcile this amongst ourselves.

Acceptance of homosexuality in the right wing community has become the norm

From my perspective of reading a lot of various right-wing forums, the community is extremely split on this topic. There's definitely a section of the right that doesn't hate gay people but there's somewhat equally large section that really does. And to be clear some of the worries from the anti-LGBT side are justified. But some of it is also overblown social media nonsense.

I think a lot of what is so damaging to the current conversation is a lot of views on these topics are built by the worst examples of either side. If all you're reading about is news stories about gay libertarians of course you're going to think gay people are libertarians. If all you're reading is news stories about some whack job rightoid that wants to shock all the gay away, of course you're going to think that all rightoids hate gay people.

My overall point is that neither side is willing to acknowledge the concerns of the other, and our kids are the front line of this culture war.

The conflicting signals, confusion, hate, vitriol, and grooming are the legacy we're building for our children. I hope they can live with it. We've left them no choice.

As a non-burgercel, I unironically blame the SCOTUS for this state of affair. Having 9 people decide on big social issues like gay marriage and abortion through judicial "decrees" was, IMO, always going to result in a lot of resentment (from the rightoids) and overreach (from the leftoids). I know that the American legal system allows the SCOTUS to do this but, practically, their decisions have robbed the country of the normal democratic process which would have probably liberalized the laws but with compromises that wouldn't anger so many people. RBG herself gave this opinion with regards to Roe vs Wade.

https://www.abajournal.com/news/article/ginsburg_expands_on_her_disenchantment_with_roe_v._wade_legacy/

Abortion wasn't even a big-button issue back then and the movements to legalize it in various states were on the cusp of succeeding. Then Roe (a really iffy legal decision IMO) came and rightoids haven't stopped seething about it since. And their anger has led to them being manipulated/represented by the nutos who want to ban abortions completely. Whereas, if the normal legislative process was allowed to take place, I think a reasonable compromise would have been reached back in the 70s/80s in which abortion would have been banned after 12-18 weeks like most European countries.

I'm not as familiar with the history of LGBT rights but, IMO, a similar thing to abortions happened. The issue of gay marriage wasn't that clear cut. Even a liberal state like California voted for Prop 8. Then Obergefell happened and some leftoids felt emboldened to continue fighting for more esoteric train stuff. And some rightoids got angry and turned up the culture war rhetoric to regain initiative in a "fight" they were badly losing. So both sides are now constantly trying to one-up each other through the courts and dumb legislations without bothering to have a dialogue. After all, why bother to compromise when you can have ultimate victory through just one vote?

When I see sane gay and trans people pushing back on some of the madness and being demonized, I have a problem both siding this issue.

I remember being online when NY state legalized gay marriage. I was happy about it. I have gay friends and family and it has always been my position that the legal rights and benefits that come with marriage need to be for all married couples. But I also remember that night seeing someone say, "I'm so happy. I'm crying tears of joy. I just wish I could get married in the Catholic church I have attended all my life." And someone replied, "Don't worry! That's coming. We're going to fight for that, too." And that's when I had a gut check.

Since then it seems like we've been on a greased slope to hades with drastic social changes instituted before we could even have a national conversation about them. I don't think it's that "there's polarization and people don't want to cooperate" as much as it is that having a national, frank, open, and "good faith" discussion about some of this has been prevented. Lately, it's prevented by social media making it literally forbidden.

I dunno....

I'm literally one of those gays that's been demonized for pushing back against the madness. Have you seen some of the vitriol from your own side? I'm willing to say that my side has madness. I'm saying your side has madness too.

Until and unless a critical amount of people are willing to acknowledge this, we'll keep talking past each other.

What are you getting vitriol about from the right? Maybe I just don't hang in the spaces where I see it. I didn't see much of it modding conservative subs. But I DO see it from the Groyper types.
