Reddit admins re-opened the subreddit and handed it over to a cadre of subreddit operators who collaborated with the operators of /r/the_donald, /r/metacanada, /r/cringeanarchy, and other hate subreddits in a backroom sub called /r/friendly_society. Their aim was to identify and harass (until we left the site) the operators of subreddits which implemented anti-hatred, anti-bigotry, anti-racism policies and who stood up against hatred.

If Reddit, Inc. had never handed over KiA to that group - and if I had never been (mistakenly) invited into /r/friendly_society and got to see firsthand what their priorities and goals were - I might be tempted at points to say "Maybe AgainstHateSubreddits is over-reacting; Reddit, Inc. has a rule against promoting hatred and they closed thousands of hate subreddits in 2020 - surely ..."

This is a fantasy. It is an utter fabrication. As we have discussed before and even shown, Bardfinn was in "friendlysociety" for about eight hours. Friendlysociety was a subreddit that was made as a reaction to The Banout. ALLLLLLLL of the mods of ALLLLLLL the subreddits targeted by "The Banout" were invited to this new sub "friendly society". I was, too, and got there the same way Bardfinn did. I was invited without asking me. Because I modded a subreddit that the Banout was targeting. Bardfinn was in there for eight hours, likely at the same time I was invited to that subreddit. It was just mods saying, "WTF is up with The Banout." It was NOT :

That is a fabrication and fantasy. Bardfinn saw NO SUCH THING in the brief time he was in there. I was admitted and looked at it, too. Ultimately I left it because I figured that the banout was going to fizzle and die. Further, do you really think that Bardfinn, as ANAL as he is about documenting EVERYTHING would not have some screenshots or proof that this giant cabal was plotting against anti-hate mods? I've seen nary a screenshot of any of this.

But I'm not ever tempted. I've seen the admins directly enable hatred and harassment despite having long-standing rules prohibiting them. I've seen them turn a blind eye to hatred and harassment. I've seen them slow-walk entire ecosystems of subreddits which should have been thrown off the site 6, 7 years ago - relegated to the expense of running their own sites or the obscurity of clinging to Voat or Ruqqus or any other shitty caters-to-hatred delisted-from-Google-results service providers. They rubber-stamped subreddits that should, by all available evidence, have been closed in July 2020. This is not acceptable.

Reddit deserves this for enabling Bardfinn.
