The last time I wrote about failing online media company Roosterteeth, it was because one of their new hires (Ky) had tweeted:
She then caused more anger by playing the racism card again when people said that she was too loud in videos.
THE LATEST DRAMA
So what is Ky up to now? Achievement Hunter views are absolutely atrocious for a 3.7 million viewer channel, bearing in mind there are probably a couple of dozen people working full-time in this team:

One of the few remaining series that old viewers still enjoy is Ya Dead, Ya Dead, in which six Achievement Hunters play Minecraft until only one player remains. In past iterations this would run for about seven episodes at an hour per episode, unedited.
For some reason (maybe in an attempt to get rid of the last remaining old-school fans), Ky appears to be in charge of the new series. She promptly announced that all the episodes would be heavily-edited to fit into a shorter runtime:

I think what I miss about old AH were the conversations. The content was a conduit for conversations to happen like how much fun they were having or their general attitudes towards each other. Old AH was like a group of friends making content now its co workers making content and it isnt the same.
Instead of a bunch of friends fricking around in games, it feels like people who took 1 improv class and tried to put on a show.

The subreddit has finally completely tipped and is now a place where almost no automod video post gets > 20 upvotes or comments. The only active threads are ones in which people air frustrations. There is no positivity anywhere. The last few RT defenders are slowly getting pushed out.
Anyone wanting more RT drama should look at "I love this Podcast, but 18 minutes of Ads is taling the piss. I dont care how funny they are an ad is an ad and Iβm skipping that shit." in which some /r/roosterteeth users try to defend an hour-long podcast having 18 minutes of ads in the middle.
Trevor and his consequences have been a disaster for the RT fanbase.

Still losing 10k subscribers per month. It's a slow death spiral.

Look at the views lmao. 3 years ago, mid 2019, they were around 11-12 mil views/month. The last 4 months they average like 2.5m
So they lost between 75%-80% of their views in less than 3 years, Impressive.
Not an isolated case though, Boogie is roughly similar aged channel, almost the same number of overall views and videos produced, with much more subscribers, and he's also losing 10k subs a month and views are way down. It's so over for these old gaming channels. Let's not forget Jim Sterling either.

Yahtzee is more or less the exact same dude he ever was (other than getting a wife and kids) and his content hasn't dropped in quality at all. Sterling's downfall has just been sad to watch.

I remember reading that the youtube algorithm really punishes staleness; some channels I've been suscribed to for years I never see videos of.
It seems once these channels start collapsing they get in a death spiral.

Seems accurate. Some people can still pull off episodic/formulaic videos but they generally have varied thumbnails, titles, tags etc. instead of "series name episode number" in both titles and thumbnail with exactly the same tags for every video.
The userbase has also just changed and people don't consoom from the sub box anymore, from what various people said often only 30-40% of people who watched a video are subscribed (even on normal videos that didn't pop off/go viral/trending), and even among those subscribers only about half or less click on the video from the subscriptions page, others come from sidebar recommendations or frontpage.

I'm subscribed to around 100 channels in my 10 year old account and I only watch shit from my frontpage or sidebar, I stopped using the subscribe button years ago. The algorithm knows what I want.
