I just watched the first 2 episodes of "Foundation"

Why have they done this? Why take one of the most influential and interesting science fiction series ever written and cram it into a young adult novel framework. I'm actually seething right now.

I don't care that they made all the main characters black women. Honestly I think everyone being like a Southpark future 'goobacks' would have been even better but don't give a shit about that very much. But if you're literally incapable of writing flaws into characters played by black women then don't cast them. Shit is so obnoxious. At one point she literally lectures a bunch of presumably the smartest people Seldon can find to organize a galactic encyclopedia about their bigoted assumption of base ten. Having chosen ones in the foundation series proves the show creators didn't read of understand the series.

Foundation was dullest shit, tbh, and I like golden age sci-fi (mostly because it’s not so fricking whiny, preachy, or doomerist like modern sci-fi).

Asimov writes neurodivergent characters, with r-slurred Ayn Randesque names (he’s pretty cool but I don’t jive with a lot of his stuff).

Modern IDPol in Sci-Fi stories is stupid, modern races, as we know them, will likely change by 12,000 AD.

Cheddar Man lived 10,000 years ago and had dark skin despite being an ancestor of modern Bongs. If this is good science or IDPol fueled is irrelevant because if The Science says one thing, you should stick with it. Regardless, on the timelines of tens of thousands of years, humans tend to show a lot of changes—look at reconstructed native faces from 15 thousand years ago, they don’t look like modern natives and it isn’t a conspiracy, the group mean shifts.

Anyway they should have made everyone Black based on that explanation but maintained that they were European descendants from Old Earth, just to make everyone seethe.

I think there'd be some kind of convergence in race maybe with a pale drift as population centers move away from areas with high ultraviolet levels and then into space where getting vitamin D from UV is more important than skin protection. Then as the empire sprawls I'd assume divergent evolution albeit with some pretty comment central pressures like intelligence. Trantor could be kind of multi-racial as the empire's central hub but the racial stuff should be more strange than it is.
