There are two explanations and both seem likely to me.
#1. Being a bunch of kitty journaloids who cannot handle confrontation, and scared of woke twitter mobs, WaPo pushovers cant bring themselves to stand up to her.); or,
#2. Their lawcels told them not to fire her until they have ironclad justifications and some sort of counterclaim to assert in the inevitable law suit
