Basically at that time Russian were supper pissed that Ukraine send a singer to Eurovision that was singing basically “Russia goodbye” and that singer was like a very popular singer in Russia. Eurovision at that time was also very important to Russia. So it actually broke the relationship between Russia and Ukraine. On the retrospective the German language is now very ironic. Also sHE was banned for life to sing in Russia.
