I just went down a little rabbit hole and watched one of his Rogan interviews for the first time, holy god in heaven listening to that guy talk is like actual nails on a chalkboard to me. Just some stuttering nerd that sounds like he's half-committing to a british accent. And the comments were calling him "the next einstein", "the greatest genius of our generation". The people who hate this guy are largely r-slurred, but the ones who worship him are so much worse.

I just like that for the longest time he was the only rich guy doing the cool things I'd do if I were a billionaire. You don't have to be smart for me to be happy you decided to do the space game instead of trying to compete to see who can make the most absurd yatch. He got rockets to land on their butt, sure the engineers did the real work but for frick sakes the moon landing was in the 60s, how has no government or rich fricker pushed the envelope at all until now?

Industrial revolution finished around 1840, first nuke 1940 you don't see a conspicuous absence of fundamental tech? Sure, transistors are getting better but where's my cold fusion? Why isn't even fission nuclear giving us ubiquitous free energy such that dinosaurs like Russia and the Middle East can't twist our nutsacks into doing whatever they want by withholding oil? People alive for the moon landing are 53 years old, nearly everyone who was old enough to remember it is retired. The kids who watched the moon landing didn't do shit to advance the field their entire productive lives. We were robbed of something and I'm not happy about it.
