The lack of robust public transport and mostly "corporate sameness" is the price to pay for not having to be around city people. You can tell this r-slur hasn't lived in a major city much at all, he thinks city people are friendly and healthy. He also thinks that public transport is such a great thing.

I can tell you that you would rather drive yourself or even uber every day for hours stuck in traffic after a few years of commuting in public transport.

I unironically love driving to work compared to the train. I blast my music, im in complete control of the machine. I can stop anywhere on the way for breakfast without significant delay.
