I will never understand delivery drivers' inability to comprehend that they are, in fact, not waiters.

Deliver me a pizza? Cool, here's your $5. Deliver me 10 pizzas? Cool, here's your $5.

There is zero difference in effort and we only interact for 30 seconds. In what world do these wageslaves think they deserve 20%?

Edit: @Weed & @rockman_foswell confirmed delivery drivers :marseywagie::marseyamazon:

Edit2: @Weed, having demonstrated strong moral fiber, has been promoted to maître d'. Henceforth they will be entitled to a 1% share of the waiter tip pool.

I employ that tactic when tipping in restaurants too. Bringing me my 80 dollar steak and putting 3 15 dollar sides on the table is the same as bringing me whatever 4 plates of whatever dog shit chiles is serving these days. You both get like 15 bucks

I'd give more than the usual in this case since she hauled them further than the doorway... Like, say, $20?

Totally. If it took some different level of effort, or (especially) if it took multiple trips or cars to deliver, I'd certainly give more than $5. But yeah, prob never more than $20.

Yeah, definitely bump it up if it's more trouble/makes it so they can make fewer deliveries but not scaled to the ticket cost. $20 is reasonable, maybe I'd go a little higher if they needed like 2 cars, how many pizzas do you get for a grand?

in fact, not waiters.

Why would that matter anyway?

Typically a waiter gets 20% tip (in the US) for good service in a proper restaurant.

The expectation being that they are engaging, personable, polite, and efficient during the 45min-1hour that they interact with you.

Some r-slur who's delivering pizza so they can buy dirt weed and smoke it en route ot bringing me my food and leaving it on my porch without interacting with me should be shot for daring to believe they've earned anything beyond what ever pocket change i have the magnaminity to give them.

Darn that's crazy, everyone else I know does this in their jobs and don't get tipped. Good to know though.

"Don't be personable in future unless tipped"
