Making this post since (a) I keep getting requests to post and (b) I frequently see folks confused as to what exactly happened to the sub in a technical sense.
The sub has been locked down by an admin.
We mods can see your requests to post, and we ourselves can post, but we cannot approve your requests.
The same shameless admin who got caught cheating in the Place subreddit.
Complaints against her are rife, but as usual nothingβs been done about it.
That wasn't a specific single Admin, that was a decision by Reddit as a whole, since r-slash-Place was being used to advertise websites that are on Reddit's sitewide ban list.
"What you're seeing here is some of the simple moderation cowtools we have available to admins for this event. A small number of us have been utilizing this in order to keep the canvas safe for everyone. While we understand some of you are concerned by this, we hope you continue to enjoy the space for what it is - a chance for many of you to come together and create a beautiful scene."
The Admin in question was just the first one on the scene when it happened.
Theoretically, the three moderators here could talk things out with Reddit as a whole, but wasting time and energy on stuff like "r-slash-Place cheating!" claims isn't going to do this subreddit any favors.
And which banned site exactly was being removed?
Per r-slash-OutOfTheLoop, the main offender was the internet logo / mascot of rdrama-dot-net, Marsey the Cat, with references to the URL itself at one time.
If you can't post a link to a site-wide banned URL in Reddit, you can't use r-slash-Place to spell out the URL in pixels, either.
But, let's take a look at the bigger picture, here. Sure, someone can claim it wasn't specifically and explicitly rdrama-dot-net, (wink wink nudge nudge) so teck-nick-all-lee Reddit Admins were wrong to do so, yadda yadda yadda.
When you scrape away the bullshit, the winks, and the nudges, everyone knows what's going on. They know what's acceptable, and what's not.
You're a mod, ncsuandrew12. If you want this subreddit fixed, you know what's acceptable and what's not, and how to talk to the admins to get this subreddit fixed.
But if you and the other mods want to play teck-nick-all-lee games, then I'm not surprised that we're still heavily restricted here, and I have no reason to think that'll ever change.
(And the stunt with the restriction evasion sub? You really thought that would work?)
So, ball's in your court. Work with the Admins to get this subreddit fixed, or just ask them to nuke it from orbit and get it over with, but the wink wink nudge nudge games isn't getting anyone anywhere, and if that's all the mods have to offer, then it just confirms that the mods were correct in actioning the sub after sneed's "Oh no we're not doing anything wrong wink wink nudge nudge" bullshit.
And that's a shame. I'd like to see this subreddit get fixed.

I'll have to take your word for it.

No, I do not. While I won't defend every action or statement by the other mods, we were generally operating in good faith. I do not, at this point, believe the admin was operating in good faith. At the end, they removed some mods and required us to name a number of new mods. We added several and asked if that was sufficient. Without further communication, the admin locked down the sub. Those are not the actions of an individual who is willing to listen or be reasonable.
Nor was the unceremonious shutdown of WhitecloaksToo, which had stricter rules and extensive automod configuration to address every concern the admin had raised here. For instance, approximately 70% of content in that sub in the ~2 weeks before its shutdown was flagged (false positives) for mod review or removal because of how strict I had set the requirements.
And the stunt with the restriction evasion sub? You really thought that would work?
It was started by someone else without my input. Someone who I don't think was ever a mod here. I just came in later to help on the technical end and try to pre-emptively avoid the sort of reddit drama that was an issue here.

No, it isn't. No admin has signaled any willingness to work with us. And I, for one, don't know how to go about finding an admin who will operate in good faith.
You're rather aggressive, you know. I've done nothing to merit these insinuations. But I'm not particularly perturbed that a polygamy apologist has a poor opinion of my character or behavior.
And that's a shame. I'd like to see this subreddit get fixed.
