I didnt think enders game or any part of the series lent itself to homophobia

Idk about the books, but Orson Scott Card is some kind of neoliberal who has weird pundit moments and used to write rants about gay marriage in newspapers

he was like "In the 70s they promised they would NEVER advocate for marriage! What promises will the homosexuals break next?"

"PUT SODOMY LAWS BACK ON THE BOOKS"

"gays reproduce by m0lestation"

etc

What promises will the homosexuals break next?

Fair point, accentuating how cucked the Cons are, as usual. Promises, in politics, are only kept if they can be enforced, and Cons are literally incapable.

In high school/middle school I had a 2nd hand ereader, no money, and didn't know how to :marseypirate: ebooks (idk even know if epubs were that easy to get for everything back then)

so I read project gutenberg books all day

I was nearly friendless so I had plenty of time on my hands

:marseyemo: "you're reading... do you like books? whatchu reading?"

:marseydisgust: "i found this esoteric book from 1880's about this guy's wacky theory of creation but he keeps ranting in circles about how and why he thinks black people exist and it's RUINING it-- it's so boring! Just get over it already and get back to rambling about the apocrypha! That was cool!"

:marseyemo: "uh... have you read harry potter"

:marseyexcited: "no but i like Sherlock Holmes right now"

:marseyemo: "oh ok, im watching Sherlock right now and I think he's neurodivergent but I hope him and Watson are gay (or bi ig) hehe, I THINK IT MIGHT HAPPEN THEY HAVE CHEMISTRY OK :marseyfingerwords: also Mary Watson is an ex assasin and"

:marseywut2: "WHAT"

:marseyemo: ">_< um...anyway i gotta study let me know if u read harry potter bye"

:marseythonk:

One of the first books I read on my ereader was "The Jungle Book" by Rudyard Kipling. I vaguely remember enjoying it, but it was too long ago to remember why. I was the annoying :marseyakshually: about the differences between books and their TV adaptions for a while after that. I will never feel as intellectual as I did in middle school (and that's a good thing :marseyxd:)

I did the same thing because i had a old ipad and apple doesnt sell books here so i read victorian books (theyre free) all the time.

Most obscure one i read is a crime thriller about an artist and a woman who become a nurse. Also i loved sherlock holmes so much i read most of doyles other works he gets pretty weird towards the end of his life

Rudyard Kipling is on the last page as the last author

he's on the list because of The Jungle Book which just makes it funnier

Joseph Conrad (blackmisia)

What? Conrad was a sharp critic of colonialism in Africa.

Conrad got cancelled by Chinua Achebe and some theatre kids https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2018/dec/18/heart-of-darkness-stage-joseph-conrad#comments

Heart of Darkness is, to use today’s parlance, problematic. More than 40 years ago, the novelist Chinua Achebe labelled its author, Joseph Conrad, β€œa bloody racist”

it's over
