Washed up actor and noted man-baby seethes over g*mers wanting to *gasp* PLAY GAMES

GenCon is a gaming convention held every year in Indiana. Naturally, this means people go there for one reason and one reason only: to be preached at. Recognizing this, GenCon organizers threatened to move future events out of state as a response to a recent anti-abortion bill.

Some chud named Tim Waters (who I guess is a professor? Weird) wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post arguing that maybe instead people who go to gaming cons would prefer to focus on, y'know, gaming. That maybe turning every single event into a place to advance an agenda doesn't make for a healthy society. That maybe people play tabletop games to ESCAPE from the real world. All in all it's a pretty tame op-ed that only the truly deranged could find offense over.

Enter Wil Wheaton.

Wil, who you may remember from getting absolutely wrecked on r/drama back when it was good, is completely, utterly, indescribably butt-blasted over this article. Apparently suggesting that people may want to go 5 minutes without having DNC talking points shoved in their face is LITERALLY FASCISM YOU GUYS. If we don't bombard you with progressive politics 24/7 then everyone might as well be wearing a Klan hood. Showcasing just how little self-awareness he has, Wil even calls the author a fragile crybaby because apparently self-reflection is also fascism.

Seriously, guys, PLEASE go read the op-ed and then Wil's response. The dis-proportionality is mind-blowing, and frankly I think Tim Waters needs to be offered a mod position here immediately.

>This lawyer who was called to the Bar in 1995 has a message for the for the right-wing Law Prof: We don't want to play with you.I fully expect GenCon to leave Indy. Indiana has allowed itself to drift hard-right -- and that has economic consequences for its population. GenCon is not a mixed space intended to make the right-wing comfortable. It is not intended to make the NRA or Trumpists comfortable. G*mers and the RPG and CCG hobbies are URBAN based hobbies. And in the dichotomy that has developed over the past 30 years in America -- that demographic divide now has real consequences.GenCon and its RPG and CCG community are not neutral on human rights. You see that as political. They don't. And on that point? You don't get a vote.Any doubt about that? Did you actually LOOK at the companies selling products in the Exhibitor's Hall? Did Paizo appear to you to be neutral in your quest for a "safe space" for the right-wing? Do you think WotC is any different? We are not interested in making you comfortable. We do not want you and those who think like you to feel welcome among us.Is there any part of that that is unclear to you?

Can you even imagine being this much of a fricking zealot you've given up on any and all self awareness?
