Semi-technical read. Looks like these guys made the critical mistake of planning how to launder in a shared hosted document.

The supernatural power of brothers to manipulate crypto is mystical and almost biblical in nature.

Short answer: no

Long answer: noooooooooo

Detailed explanation: No, because definitely not.

If they think it's unfeasible (we don't have the tech currently to do it on a large scale) they should at least explain their reasons

No. It's mostly smoke and mirrors. Why are fossil fuel companies so interested in this technology? They use the captured CO2 to extract additional oil from wells. It's just another distraction to avoid the elephant in the room and continue business as usual.

I'm a chemist working on the (electro)conversion of CO2 into economically valuable products. In my opinion, making this process profitable would be the only way to convince big companies to significantly invest in the process. I can tell you that we are far from making the process economically viable

Edit: to clarify, I'm not defending that we should prioritize the economy. I'm saying that that's what policy makers/ big companies prioritize, so it won't happen until the process is profitable, which is far from now. We thus rely on different approaches to mitigate climate change

A sensible comment

Bonus on doomering about millions dying in India during heat waves just a few years from now

https://old.reddit.com/r/climatechange/comments/1ct9dhj/fatal_heat_waves_are_testing_indias_ability_to/?sort=controversial

We are going to have a heat wave combined with power failure that kills millions by the end of the decade.

You get a wet bulb temp weather system that settles over a city for a couple days, and the power system goes down.

The opening chapter of the novel "The Ministry for the Future" is a description of just this scenario, and it is hands down one of the most horrifying things I have ever read.

Yup that chapter was sickeningly realistic

The heat wave deaths are then followed by a massive pandemic as millions of corpses liquefy in the heat. The whole city would be a biohazard for a long time

I just started this book yesterday and this post made me do a double take. I had a moment of like, โ€œwaitโ€ฆthat's too realโ€

Durov (Telegram) blows another hole in Signal's security.

๐Ÿคซ A story :marseyslime: shared by Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter, uncovered that the current leaders of Signal, an allegedly โ€œsecureโ€ messaging :marseytelegram: app, are activists used by the US state :marseycoonass: department for regime change abroad ๐Ÿฅท

https://twitter.com/jack/status/1787895769183268948

https://www.city-journal.org/article/signals-katherine-maher-problem

๐Ÿฅธ The US government spent $3M to build :marseyyarn: Signal's encryption, and today :marseyclueless: the exact same encryption is implemented in WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Google :marseygetgle: Messages and even Skype. It looks almost as if big tech in the US is not allowed to build :marseyikea: its own encryption protocols that would :marseymid: be independent of government interference ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ

๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ An alarming number of important people I've spoken to remarked that their โ€œprivateโ€ Signal messages had been exploited against them in US courts or media. But whenever somebody raises doubt :marseybruh2: about their encryption, Signal's typical response is โ€œwe are open source :marseymissing2: so anyone can verify that everything is all rightโ€. That, however, is a trick :marseyflareon: ๐Ÿคก

๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ Unlike Telegram, Signal doesn't allow researchers to make sure that their GitHub code is the same code that is used in the Signal app run on users' iPhones. Signal refused to add reproducible builds for iOS, closing a GitHub request from the community. And WhatsApp doesn't even publish the code of its apps, so all their talk about โ€œprivacyโ€ is an even more obvious :marseyoctopus4: circus :marseycryingclown: trick๐Ÿ’ค

https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-iOS/issues/641

๐Ÿ›ก Telegram is the only massively popular messaging :marseytelegram: service :marseygreytide: that allows everyone :marseynorm: to make sure that all of its apps indeed use the same open source :marseymissing2: code that is published on Github. For the past ten years, Telegram Secret :marseyglow: Chats have remained the only popular method of communication that is verifiably private ๐Ÿ’ช

This is the part I don't get. Like I would respect them so much more if they said it with their full chest, instead of dropping hints and then getting mad when people pick up on the obvious.

You would respect them for saying racist things loudly?

:mjlol: this has 74 upvotes, imagine if she was like "okay guys they are swastikas but they're the Hindu kind"

Those swastikas even face the Hitler way, not the Hindu direction YIKES. I notice she's not actually coming out against any of the alleged content, she's just fauxpologizing and hoping it's enough.

Jeets catching strays

Right? The word โ€œkindlyโ€ is kind of indicator of what's about to come. Like when someone starts off by saying, โ€œI'm not racists/homophobic/etc., butโ€ฆโ€ some racist or homophobic shit is about to follow lol
