I think modern TAA based on CNN or better Transformer-models collect up to 16 frames of subpixel information. Imagine Downsampling a 16 times bigger generated Frame. Its not gonna happen easily! But indeed it is the GIGACHAD DS AA RENDERING 16384x8640
For real, TAA is still better because it can look up information behind an edge, which Downsampling can't. It just minimizes the Error.

Agree, all Alcoholics Anonymous is a poor mans attempt to replicate straight downsampling.
Granted it's the most resource heavy, but the beauty of undiluted mashing of pixels into spaces they weren't meant for can't be understood without seeing something accept an input far beyond its intended bountries, everything else is just simulated pixels and breaks down when you have fine lines causing artifacts as it attempts to incorporate subpixel information, when it's all done automatically you get true downsampling greatness.
the software solutions do an alright job but it's still not comparable to forcing a 2k monitor to accept a 4k input before all monitors were finnicky as shit and would just shut off whenever you forced input.
it's too hard to describe without a combination of both screenshot closeups and video capture of motion but the bottom line is that the hacked hardware solutions were always superior in fidelity
except they required hours of testing resolutions on monitors to see if they would stick which was a frickin pain in the butt

I think in the context of fully path traced g*mering its nice, like in portal with RTX®, because its actually expensive
but modern Unreal slop somehow manages to run worse than that while looking butt
becuase devs are r-slurred too

since they introduced RTX back in 2018 they've done nothing but poison the well of discussion on ray tracing with ther bullsht marketing
it was "ray tracing enhancements" bolted on to a raster engine, and that first generation games had to pick one of 3 : shadows, reflections, or global illumination
there's more features now I guess when you turn on "ray tracing" in a game, but who knows what they actually are.
nvidia has made the whole thing a mess from the very beninging
and when portal with RTX, a actual cool tech demo released, predictably, it gets shit on by reviewers (the complaints about art integrity are justified albiet, but I think it was fine)
because it ran at 20fps on a 4090. and that's because it, unlike any AAAslop, is doing FULL PATH TRACING. but its all just called "RTX," consumers are r-slurred and ignorant.
there were mfs literally saying "why does this run worse than cyberpunk"
the future looks freacking crazy but I don't know if full RT lighting will ever see the light of day as regular butt games run worse and worse
and nvidia is just enabling these devs and their shit optimization with all the lies on top
ive seen minecraft PTGI, ive seen teardown, etc. I can't look at a screen space reflection or a shitty dark corner anymore without shedding a tear for what could have been.
Ai frame generation will probably be doing 100% of the rendering before full path tracing is mainstream

we're on the exact same page, rather than using it as the solution to the issues created w/rasterization instead the filler shit has taken front and center.
