I think in the context of fully path traced g*mering its nice, like in portal with RTX®, because its actually expensive

but modern Unreal slop somehow manages to run worse than that while looking butt becuase devs are r-slurred too

if Nvider could just be honest but they never have

since they introduced RTX back in 2018 they've done nothing but poison the well of discussion on ray tracing with ther bullsht marketing

it was "ray tracing enhancements" bolted on to a raster engine, and that first generation games had to pick one of 3 : shadows, reflections, or global illumination

there's more features now I guess when you turn on "ray tracing" in a game, but who knows what they actually are.

nvidia has made the whole thing a mess from the very beninging

and when portal with RTX, a actual cool tech demo released, predictably, it gets shit on by reviewers (the complaints about art integrity are justified albiet, but I think it was fine)

because it ran at 20fps on a 4090. and that's because it, unlike any AAAslop, is doing FULL PATH TRACING. but its all just called "RTX," consumers are r-slurred and ignorant.

there were mfs literally saying "why does this run worse than cyberpunk"

the future looks freacking crazy but I don't know if full RT lighting will ever see the light of day as regular butt games run worse and worse

and nvidia is just enabling these devs and their shit optimization with all the lies on top

ive seen minecraft PTGI, ive seen teardown, etc. I can't look at a screen space reflection or a shitty dark corner anymore without shedding a tear for what could have been.

Ai frame generation will probably be doing 100% of the rendering before full path tracing is mainstream

God I hate that shit so much. And don't get me started on temporal antialiasing.
