I honestly was tired of waiting for GIMP to become good and didn't want to be locked into Adobe's shit ecosystem. I ended up buying Affinity Photo 2, only cost me 35$ and was honestly a good investment. Really nice piece of software and much more in line with Photshop than GIMP could hope to be.

Lol they took gimp 2 (which was woefully behind the times then), spent like 7 years porting it to gtk3 and doing a couple of other bits that nobody cares about and it's still missing useful features that photoshop had about 15 years ago.

There's no faster way to tell if someone is full of shit than if they suggest gimp is an alternative to photoshop
