He claims anthropology allowed him to study his tribes, but the tribe went extinct before the 1960s when cultural ethnographies really came into being. Whatever anthropological data existed on some tribe from the 1930s and earlier would basically be academically useless, if they were done at all.

He claims berdache is a french word for a variety of gay indians, where it actually has a very specific meaning to a few great plains tribes who dealt with french traders.
