Army didn't want it in first place but it doesn't have political capital to take on supreme court and politicians dgaf+wouldn't want to be seen as anti foid even tangentially.

I mean that's a good thing as far as maintaining a democratic state is concerned but it's somewhat surprising. I'd have thought they'd be well placed as far as internal military concerns are placed even if not as much so as the military dictatorship that is Pakistan is.

Military junta is preferable to Republic honestly. Stalinist Communism is. Juche is. Anything is better than Republic.
They do have their own lobbies but this is something activist judges took on and you really can't do much about things like that, even PMs have major agendas torpedoed by rando activist judges on SC. They've been fairly good at keeping political interference out cause they built up this image as clean and pro force, esp no quotas in a state employer that huge is remarkable in Indian context. Well now there is and for foids too
