The reason this works for the guy isn't because he's "wonkamaxxing" or whatever, but because playing a role is much easier than being yourself. It's easier to pretend to be confident in yourself than to actually be confident in yourself, because the former doesn't require you to actually believe it
this is true actually. I was gonna try using that technique to help me with songwriting, i.e. come up with a character while I'm noodling and imagining the song that that person would write and how they'd perform it or produce it.
