Second to top comment is the real reason I think. All the r-slurs talking about insecurity or whatever are coping. The biological purpose of male and female existing at all is reproduction. Women will always know a child is theirs men will not. As such men who cared about female purity were able to more successful ensure their genes were passed on. And that resulted in it an instinctual disgust towards female promiscuity across large swaths of the male population.
