I have a wild box turtle that comes into my garage for the past 3-4 years that I am working on giving beetus by feeding it strawberries and fruit almost everyday. I thought it was a female since it's pretty big for a box turtle, but now I think it's a male because I see him once in the spring then he disappears until late summer which is when he starts showing up everyday in the garage until winter. I guess he roams around looking for tussy until it's closer to time to hibernate. I try to leave a couple of small leaf piles in his favorite hiding spots in the yard.

Thanks, bro. I'd like to try to dig up a few earthworms or something so he isn't always eating what amounts to turtle slop. I give him a wide variety of fruits and berries and sometimes veggies (although he almost always selects the fruit/berries over them), but I'm sure it's not good for him. I saw him once a couple of weeks ago in one of his hiding spots so I know he made it through winter, but has been mia since despite me looking for him. I expected him to start showing up again in late summer when he usually does.

Don't give them iceberg lettuce. It doesn't have nutrients. They like romaine.

This is him from last year. He eats, takes a huge crap in my garage that I have to clean up, then goes to its leaf pile.

Most people don't know that there are different type of turtles so this one is not fair to blame on foids tho

If it has claws instead of webbed toes it's a pretty safe bet that it can't fricking swim. Doesn't take a biologist.

All tortoises are turtles but not all turtles are tortoises.

Lmao.

Absolutely true and boring childhood story: I was with my dad and there was a turtle in the road and my dad asked if I wanted to save it. I ofc said yes and while we were moving it out of the road an older lunchtime rowdie pulls over and asked if we wanted that turtle. My dad looked at me and asked if I wanted to let him have it and that he would tell him no. In my foolish naivety I said yes let him because I thought he was just going to keep it as a pet or something I guess. The rowdie put his foot on its back, picked it up by the tail, and threw it in his trunk. A few miles down the road, I innocently ask my dad what the man was going to do with the turtle. My dad just starts laughing his butt off at me and says, “he's going to eat it lmao wtf did you think he was going to do hahaha”. I felt so bad and r-slurred.

Yeah, it was a pretty big snapping turtle. Maybe even an alligator turtle but can't really remember.

If the old country :marseycatgirl5: black :marseytariq: man grabbed it by the tail it was almost certainly an alligator snapping turtle. Evil incarnate.

This sub is what happens when minimally educated unintelligent people join together to find common ground and project their own self loathing to the rest of the world. There has never been anything clever that I have ever seen from this sub. I will continue to look for humor but I am just starting to think that loss and anger plus unemployment equals humor
