You're not wrong, but they don't want the sample knowing how to mimic the symptoms in order to get medication for what they think they have.

So for ADHD, you take a bunch of tests that basically measure IQ, and they try to see where you falter for questions you should've gotten right. There are patterns, and they somehow compose a score which they compare to the general population that they've tested. If you get outside the average (basically), then thy diagnose you with ADHD.

Now if you study the methodology, you can game the system.

This isn't a big deal for people who want Adderall and have a high IQ. But it's a big problem for more subjective tests like anxiety or depression which has drugs that aren't really performance-enhancing as Adderall.

If you apply this problem to trans identity, then you'll realize how much worse it is.
