I'm not going to watch it because it's a live action remake of a shitty cartoon

I'm going to make sure nobody else will watch it because I'm a spiteful piece of shit :marseyembrace:

Yeah, it's gone too far in the sense that people are still talking about it without saying anything new.

This article was published today, it's completely vapid but you can't even call it a hot-take because the movie's been out for so long already.

This movie was announced in 2021. We've been talking about it foreveerrrr. I would honestly be completely ambivalent to its existence if it wasn't for the thousands I bet against @Spiderman on it bombing.

>Though relatively inoffensive and, frankly, pretty fair given that the original film came out in 1937...

I always like this line of reasoning, like 1937 was some kind of ancient r-slurred unwoke alien time in America, and storytelling was in its earliest infancy and human nature hadn't been properly plumbed yet; and now, in 2025, our master storytellers create incredible worlds and plots and characters each and every time, because they have their finger on the pulse of the public: we demand whitewashed inoffensive themeless meaningless retellings of stories we already know.

People literally do believe in the 'just enjoy new thing and get excited for next new thing', don't they?

By "adults" you mean Millennials, who've mostly eschewed adulthood in favour of a permanent childhood.

How is that a problem?

Jump in the discussion.

Because it leads too wallowing in depressive nostalgia for an unreachable past, instead of living in the present, and building for the future.

It's easier too colllect Pokemon cards and blame the "Boomers" for everything, than it is too take responsibility for oneself, and act like an adult.

>This is a culmination of years of racist backlash. Like Halle Bailey before her, when Rachel was first cast in the role in June of 2021, she received a lot of criticism from people who took issue with a Disney princess being played by a woman of color.

The character is literally named after her skin color.

I was listening to Glenn Beck and he unintentionally called it a great movie.

He said the only thing that hurt the film and is making it flop so hard was Rachel Zegler's political statements outside the film.

Which means he thinks the movie is great, the casting is great, Rachel's acting is great, and everything about the movie is oscar worthy.

isnt it crazy how a woman simply expressing her opinion is enough to threaten the success of a block buster film. Its like its still 1950s

I hold no illusion that if Rachel was saying shit Beck agreed with he wouldn't change his tune in a heartbeat
