While it's tempting to laugh at redditors for being fake punks, the hypocrisy over intellectual property rights has been rife in the subculture since the beginning.

Their ideology boils down to supporting the weaker party in every situation, no matter the context, and everything is built on this single principle. So for example, intellectual property rights (et al) are great and necessary so long as the copyright owner being discussed is an obese black trans muslim woman, and they're evil if the copyright owner is Disney. That's not merely hypocrisy, it goes way beyond that: it's catastrophic r-sluration.
Daily reminder that these are the very same people who were up in arms when a cop (a white woman, IIRC) shot a black girl literally mid-stab, on video no less. Girl was bullied, went home, came back out, and tried to stab her bully, and the r-slur still moaned about "police violence" because - see core ideology above - the cop is more powerful, ipso facto wrong.
It only gets sketch around situations like Rittenhouse where they somehow managed to convince themselves that the violent libertarian and the associated mob were the powerless ones against a teenager. But, you know, politics.
