You'd need to entirely rework on the Japanese Navy worked. Too much promoting incompetence and forcing officers to die with a vessel.
Yamato is a much newer ship (1942 vs 1913), her armor was better nearly every place, her guns were bigger (3x18" vs 2x15"), she was faster, no r-slurred torpedo tubes on a Battleship, but a worse fire control system. WWI taught a lot about how to build better battleships

On paper 1v1? Yammy. Warspite having insanely better crew training and retrofits doesn't beat big schlong energy.
In practice? RN has the total navy size and connections to choke out jap industry long before yamato becomes a problem.
