It seems like Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz did worse (€36B) and his only defense was "I don't remember." He barely did anything as Bundeskanzler, the government was being run mostly by two clowns from the Green party. I suspect a whole bunch of other high level politicians were involved in that multibillion fraud as well. They've been covering for him in order to keep themselves out of trouble.

no. most high level people (not just politicians) have done things that would put normal people in prison. the only onse among them who get investigated/prosecuted/convicted are the ones that threaten the system.
