It's a shame that essayposting doesn't burn more calories :marseylongpost: because if it did, the fat rats in this Scott Alexander blog could rationalize themselves into a healthy weight

https://www.astralcodexten.com/p/the-ozempocalypse-is-nigh/comment/99826410

A couple weeks ago, Scott wrote a blog discussing the availability of GLP-1 agonist drugs like Ozempic and how the FDA's actions might price consumers out of the drugs they now depend on. Vaguely interesting, as are most of Scott's blogs on topics on the periphery of healthcare. But of course, being a topic about fats it also encourages fat logic.

One commenter named Bob gave the sage advice to consume less calories, which actually caused Scott to bite on the comment:

Buckle in, because now we're in longpostville:

Scott continuing to bullshit around what is being said and focusing on mass rather than calories

This person claims whether he goes over or under his caloric budget depends entirely on whether he licks his spoon clean of the last dollop of yogurt

This guy compares eating less to literal self flagellation. Surprisingly his comment was quite concise for an ACT post

I know this is probably a stupid comment, but I've recently been super hungry and eating more often. However, my weight has stayed the same at 98 pounds. I do not exercise and I despise water, except for showers. Can metabolism randomly increase even in one's early 30s? I am not pregnant.

Also, great post. You do a great job with these screenshots. Do you follow this guy? How did you find his writing?

Scott Alexander has been pretty well known on the weird parts of the Internet for like a decade now. He used to post on slatestarcodex.com but abandoned it in favor of his Substack blog a few years ago.

NEAT energy and your body and mind compensating by eating less/moving more on other occasions happens frequently. Especially for those who have always been naturally skinny.

could be an insulin thing. mindblowing fact but calories-in/calories-out has always been bullshit and you will just piss out ketones if your fat cells don't store them, which is controlled by insulin.

teen girls with type 1 diabetes can have eating disorders where they know that if they don't take their insulin, the calories will get pissed right out and they'll be skinny.
