Apparently she has inbred cousins, because you'd have to be retarded to believe airlines are re-sewing a life safety device between flights.

I can't think of a single occasion where you can "repair" safety straps. Automotive seatbelts, fall harnesses, parachutes... the only accepted repair is "take it out of service and replace with a new one"

They cut the frayed part and insert the remaining seatbelt back into the buckle, shortening it in the process. There is no sewing. What sort of third world mongoloid are you? Have you even been on an airplane?

Both ends are sewn. You can't just not have the folded-over portion at the end

The one end is only sewn to keep the buckle from falling off the belt when you adjust it. It serves no purpose when you are just sitting in the seat. It's not essential to the function of the belt. They just fold it over and melt the frayed end. It looks like it has the sewn end unless you look for it. It takes 5 seconds and gets the plane back in the air with all seats full until they have time to actually replace the entire belt.

They only wear out from fat passengers since fatty's belly's make the belt rub the buckle so they aren't cutting off enough to affect anyone that isn't also fat.

i saw a plane maintenance guy tape one of the overhead bins shut with duct tape b4 take off. Thats the type of cultural experiences you get traveling abroad

There seem to be a lot of services that replace the belt, fix up the latches. But they all talk about replacing the whole fabric..

Still, as long as it's not against regulations (which sounds like it would be, but what do I know), what would be that bad about cutting off the worn part and resewing it back? It's not like they're made any differently in factories.

Certification. You're not getting the same tested pattern and strength as the factory design. Also good luck pushing a needle through quad-thickness webbing repeatedly by hand.

They're obviously not hand sewing them. The kind of shops that offer belt replacements with certification, might offer the same kind service, just with reusing the old belt rather than a new one.

Airplane seatbelts don't have pretensioners. The cost to have a third party "fix" a simple belt is higher than simply replacing the belt with a new factory part.

Airplane parts tend be multiple times more expensive tho. And the cost multiplied by hundreds of seats adds up. Bet it's way cheaper to replace the webbing than the whole assembly, which I'd imagine to be a regular practice. Cutting and sewing it back probably less so if done at all, but might make sense too, especially if you're repairing only a couple belts and want to keep the same color.

in the US companies don't have to worry about getting sued. the amounts of damages awarded in the US is also definitely not 100x higher than in the EU. US companies have literally no reason to be overly cautious with safety critical parts.
