Moab Diner (Moab, UT) Breakfast

Went to Moab diner during our trip north, was pretty decent depending on what you get.

I ordered the #2 pancakes with sausage patties and eggs over medium. The pancakes were dry and kinda bland, and the eggs were more easy than medium. To be honest I would skip the #2.

Someone else got the #1 with hashbrowns, ham, English muffin, and scrambled eggs. They accidentally served over easy (cooked unevenly) instead, but was painlessly replaced. The other person said the ham was awesome and the hashbrowns were great, the scrambled eggs were vastly better than the over easy/medium as well.

The third person got #5 (The days special) "Sweetwater Skillet" and said it was pretty good, they didn't have much to add.

The place was packed, we went on a Saturday at about 10 am and every seat was sat and it took about 15 min to be seated. Everyone was working like a machine, so things moved quickly.

Overall the food was a mixed bag, I think the meats and scrambled eggs were very good, however the pancakes and eggs over medium were mediocre at best, bland at worst.

Imo if you are here to get the meats or potato sides, I think you would be pretty satisfied. However if you wanted good pancakes, or eggs over easy/medium, I would look elsewhere.

Here are the eggs and sausage, data is spotty in Utah.

That looks absolutely disgusting. Does shit like that really qualify as "sausage" in burgerland?
And even if it's supposed to be a slice of sausage... it's WAY to fricking thin?

It's a sausage patty, not a normal sausage. We have normal sausages and they are exactly what you think they are. These however are a type of breakfast meat that's basically a meat puck made of the same meat and seasonings that go in breakfast sausages, just in a different form. Also that is a pretty unflattering photo and tasted better than it looked, though I've had better elsewhere.

It actually tasted pretty good, much better than it looked. Meanwhile the pancakes were super bland, so looks are deceiving I suppose.

I prefer waffles but I can make healthy pancakes at home without specialized equipment (I use protein powder, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract). I wouldn't order them at a diner though

Yes, but not often. I treat them as basically dessert, and only have them twice a year at most. So they have to be really good for me to want to get them again, these weren't.

Moab is beautiful. Go see the petroglyphs if you haven’t been there before

Oh didn't stay for long on this way, but when I'm passing through the other way back home I should have more time. Got a suggestion of where to stop? Didn't know Moab had those but they look neat.

Birthing Rock is the best one hands down. I highly recommend it. :marseyfluffy:

Not at this place, the ham looked really good. It wasn't a ham steak, more of a nice seared ham that wasn't sweet at all. Actually looked pretty legit and will be what I order if we stop by on the way back.

Yep, I live near a place called Magnolia Pancake Haus, and they make the best pancakes I've ever had in my life. If you are near one in Texas sometime, a suggest stopping for the pancakes.

Nice! Moab is a great town, but the Mormons aren't exactly known for their culinary prowess. You should try their version of scones, though, very decadent

Sounds interesting! Yeah Moab was quite nice, really liked the place. Do you have a suggestion of where you can get those scones? This place didn't serve those, and I'm always open to new places to try.

Didn't stay long (wasn't my destination), so you may be right. The diner wasn't special, so I'm not super impressed myself.

Sadly we are just passing through the salt lake area, but if we are able to I think a visit would be pretty enjoyable. Provo looked really neat as well.

Would probably be next year though at the earliest.
