I'm being serious. I'm a Bi Zoomer so I wasn't there for the aids crisis. But I did graduate college during the Covid Pandemic, and I followed all of the rules. I wore my mask, barely left the house, the works. Covid was a lot less deadly then aids and avoiding it was a lot more intense. Am I supposed to pity guys that couldn't stop fricking when I was able to not leave my home?
I'm being deadly serious here. I want to understand why it was so bad.

One of the problems with HIV is that it takes many years from the time it infects someone to when it starts to cause obvious symptoms. Many people in the 80s didn't have a chance to modify their sexual behavior or intravenous drug use because by the time HIV and how it is transmitted became widely known, they had already been infected for years without realizing it. They didn't have a chance to avoid it at all because they grew up in a time when there was effective treatment for almost all known STDs and at worst you'd risk getting crabs or something from s*x, not dying. Fricking with a condom sucks, so it makes sense that a bunch of people back in the 70s just fricked bareback, especially gay men given that they face no risk of pregnanacy.

It's basically a cute twink's version of realizing your sinful nature has condemned you to heck for eternity
