The age gap is already suspicious but okay, maybe, if the parents are Orthodox Jews and the mother got married off early (but even so, 16 is still very young). But a biological male will not need tampons, you know. Or maybe you don't.

I get the impression that this is a re-written story to make the sister trans, and the original version was "she came out as lesbian and my homophobic in-laws kicked her out".
