Honestly, think about it rationally. You are glad-handing, pandering, occupying and executing an office for at least 4 years solely in case someone shoots the President. All the hard work you put into your beautiful little political career - reading talking points from your donors, pretending to enjoy sports, making sure you eat a healthy diet of fried state fair corn dogs, educating yourself on key special interest groups, playing politics with national tragedies. All of it has one simple result: you balance the ticket for the man who will eventually dominate in every swing state.
Proposed the perfect legislation? Great. Who benefits? If you're lucky, the senile President, who had nothing to do with the way the bill was drafted, who signs it into law. He gets to reap that tasty political capital come election season. He gets the benefits of the sweet budget surplus that came from the way you shepherded it through the appropriations committee.
As an elected official who serves as VP, you are LITERALLY dedicating at least 4 years of your life simply to preside over the Senate for other legislators to vote in it. It is the ULTIMATE AND FINAL cuck. Think about it logically.

This wasn't the plan. It's not a large secret many of us worried Biden would not make the four years, allowing the VP a chance at the top spot without a race.
We tried to bolster her in the four years to increase her mass appeal, but as my grandfather would say, the dog don't hunt. She had gaffes that made Biden look like Oscar Wilde in comparison and could not handle any unmanaged or spontaneous interactions with the "common" folk.
