I hear what you're saying, but is a throwaway line in an old superhero movie really part of "our history"? And does airing that in 2022 have more value than making gay people/gay marriage the butt of a joke? Opinions will vary but it's worth thinking about

ah yes the famously gay macho man randy savage

That's great that you have the strength to reflect on that now, but what about the queer kid who is being bullied, faced rejection from their family and peers... and then sees a moment like that, from bloody SpiderMan of all people, a hugely popular, family-friendly superhero? That we're clearly supposed to whoop and holler about, and find hilarious? There is value in keeping things as they were, and you've outlined one reason for that amongst many. I'm not pro -censorship, but I am a pragmatist. And for me, preventing even one kid from feeling like that renders it worth it.

even in this scenario the kid is still being bullied for being a cute twink, it's just that in this liberal's imaginary scenario a comic book character is his escape

To be fair, that's actually completely different. Spiderman is not a nuanced film about being gay and gay prejudice. It's one throwaway homophobic line. But, go off girl, you do you

I don't know the film as you haven't named it. But a film "about" a siege in a gay bar is different to a single throwaway line in a movie that has no other positive representations of homosexuality at all, mainstream or not. I don't really know how to explain it to you if you don't get it. It's totally different situations.

No, I'm gay. It really seems like we're just from different planets at this point. I really don't see how a line from a Spider-Man film is part of "gay history". For some reason you do. More power to you, I suppose. We're not really getting anywhere with this so I'll just respect your opinion and leave it there.

i wonder if this person wants the Quaran banned?

That mad about a gay joke being gone?

It's not even a gay joke! spider-man is calling him a woman, it's insulting a macho wrestler's masculinity
