70 years later and man, this still holds up. The music, lighting, cinematography, and miniature work portray the sense of dread, mortal danger and destruction.
Everyone should watch Godzilla (1954) at least once. There is an American adaptation called Godzilla, King of the Monsters! (1956) which spliced in scenes of Raymond Burr. Don't bother with that one. !kaijufans

My first ever Godzilla film was Return of Godzilla (1984), which is deadly serious, like the first film. It wasn't until I was older that I saw how camp and silly the series was in the 70s.
