Everything Everywhere All at Once

A middle aged Chinese woman tries to rescue her daughter from being an r-slured nihilistic zoomer. In the process she deals with every kind of relationship a human being can have in their life.

On a superficial level I love it because of representation. The first movie in my entire fricking life that depicts the community I live in where it's all asians with an occasional white person on the side (me).

But mostly I like it because about real shit like how you relate to your spouse, your kids, your parents. If you watch it and don't cry you are probably a homosexual.

I'm a little split on this movie because it's a little long and a little too self indulgent. I still think I'd recommend it to most people though, I wish there were more unique movies like this one.

Yeah, it looks like the kinda film where you watch the director/writer suck his own peepee for two hours.

I agree, but it's still got some really memorable characters and moments.

Heck, it's worth it for raccacoonie alone.

I totally get what you're saying here. For me it worked well enough that I stayed onboard through the end. But if it's not working for you, you're going to feel it's too goddarn long and takes itself too seriously.

For me it helps that Michelle Yeoh was a goddess to my community (Chinese diaspora in the 2000s who I'm choosing to identify with right now). There's a bunch of in jokes about her career that keep it light hearted and bring it over the finish line.

I noticed the length and some mild pacing issues on a rewatch, but I was having too much fun the first time.
