The blackface norm is one of the stupidest woke taboos. It's creeped from clear racialized caricatures to saying that anyone anywhere that darkens their skin to look more African is a racist and there's no mitigating context for this.

There's an episode of the Simpsons where they go to a museum where everything is "negro-faced" except it's not just for black people, everyone in the museum is black-faced. It's such a weird thing to see now.
