Was it ever good? I heard people raving about the episode where the two fatties in charge just got drunk and starting improving plots, it was still shit.

First two seasons are good. Third season is pretty bad but there’s some good episodes here and there.

I stopped watching after that. It is funny though, because the third season is when they brought in women writers, and when you check the credits, literally every bad episode is written by a woman.

Not to blame women entirely, since Harmon and Roiland are kind of gay weirdos anyway, so the show would’ve eventually sucked regardless.

I'm no misogynist but do women really have to write shows & movies? be ceo or prime minister somewhere

Harmon can't keep things going past 3 good seasons on his own (see community). Hired writers as a crutch so they could reach the promised 10 seasons.

3rd season was the worst, it recovered slightly in 4 and 5

it's not bad. some episodes are good, some are horribly unfunny. kinda bound to happen when the story ideas seem to come from 'what's the most r-slurred thing we can do this week', a bit like south park. if you've already been exposed to reddit tier rick and morty fans then it's probably ruined for you forever though.

Yeah, the thing about South Park though is they base most of their shit off current events, which helps prevent it from being stale. Rick and morty doesn't really do that, not to the same extent at least.

The fanbase is terrible but I still enjoy the cartoons in a "let's watch something r-slurred to pass the time" kind of way. And I still think it's less r-slurred than the overwhelming majority of anime.

Some of the episodes are mocking the audience by making the episodes too serious so it's intentionally bad.
