He was a far more voracious reader than I, but he made it a rule never to touch a book by any author who had not been dead at least thirty years. "That's the only kind of book I can trust," he said. "It's not that I don't believe in contemporary literature," he added, "but I don't want to waste valuable time reading any book that has not had the baptism of time. Life is too short."

Do "Men without Women" by Murakami or "The City and The City" by China Melville :marseyantiwork: "Between Two Fires" and "Howl of The Dark Ages" by Christopher Buehlman are kino  I can recommend "The Populist Delusion" and "Prophets of Doom" by Neema Parvini if you want nonfiction

No they're all wrong Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World is the best Murakami by far. It's kinda Philip K Peepee meets Huxley and the protagonist is a major :marseybootscoot: :!marseychonkerfoid: architect. !bookworms all of your Murakami recs are bad and you should feel bad. @FBIshill you should be reading it next too.

>Which? :marseylaying:

Haven't read either of these 2.

I've read Men Whitout Women, Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and 1Q84.

I just got the 2nd 3bp book, will probably read Celine first though so it'll have to wait a bit. I was really impressed by the first book final chapters, was a lot better than what I expected

3bp is strikingly different in scope from book to book

First one is strictly earth over a brief period and a bit weird

Second is redacted and sprawling

Final is MEGA REDACTED READ TO THE END and the ending lived rent free in my head for days

I think they're best consumed consecutively though

The newest I've read is Richard Osman's the Thursday Murder Club. Author's first novel, published in 2020. Light, easy read. My husband liked it too and he hates fiction.

Does it have to be English? Otherwise I'd recommend Tatami Galaxy or Kamikaze Girls

If English then maybe Life of Pi??

Bruh if you think :marseymindblown: a 23 year old book is from an up and coming author :marseygeorgerrmartin: then youre in serious :marseybeheadedkamikaze: denial about your own age.

Engorged mammaries and posteriors may suffice for those of simpler minds, but I hold with a far more enlightened view. The most beautiful curve on the female body, by far, is her smile :)
