!bookworms do you guys occasionally spend more money to get pretty editions of books you like or want to read?
Pic related is from a hardcover edition of "The Origin of the Species" I found at the bookstore and loved.
I recently ordered a copy of Kafka's "The Trial" by the same publisher "Martin Claret".
Also, I think the Brazilian edition of the book "Vikings: Children of Elm and Ash" by Neil Price looks better than the American edition.
This one in English
And this is the Brazilian by "Crítica" which I have. It's a paperback, but I still think it's pretty.

I got the LOTR author illustrated edition which cost like $60-$70 on sale at the time because of the maps and stuff drawn by JRR Tolkien being included were cool. It has now dropped even more to like $50 and the cover was pretty plain as a throwback to the original cover. But besides that and the matching Silmarillion since I didn't have a copy I don't spend extra for a special edition of a book and usually just pirate them for my kindle.

This one?
I saw it at a bookstore here once and was tempted to buy it. But it costed like 120 dollars and I thought it was ridiculous.

On Amazon it is like $40-$50 and I would recommend it at that price. Not worth it at $120 the quality isn't there at that price point but it has a lot of JRR Tolkien's personal drawings scattered throughout and has two separate maps by Christopher Tolkien. It is all in one book like he originally wanted so it is harder to read but with his own drawings throughout it is an interesting way to see exactly what he was going for.
