!bookworms do you guys occasionally spend more money to get pretty editions of books you like or want to read?
Pic related is from a hardcover edition of "The Origin of the Species" I found at the bookstore and loved. 
I recently ordered a copy of Kafka's "The Trial" by the same publisher "Martin Claret".
Also, I think the Brazilian edition of the book "Vikings: Children of Elm and Ash" by Neil Price looks better than the American edition.

And this is the Brazilian by "Crítica" which I have. It's a paperback, but I still think it's pretty.

I've shelled out for leatherbound versions of Imitation of Christ by Thomas Kempis, St. Faustina's Diary and most of the writings of St. Teresa of Avila in addition to a copy of Confessions, and of course some nice Bibles for the house. The paperback cover of the Diary is not very aesthetic and it's one of my favorite devotional/private revelation works.
I also stand to inherit my parents collection, which is more extensive and has hardback sets of the Summa and the collected works of St. Francis de Sales as well as some sets of seminary textbooks, a collection of the Ante-Nicene Fathers and they're buying the Bp. Barron "Word on Fire" Bible series which has theology interlaced in and very nice covers, they're pricey though. I think it'll have been around $1k when they finish releasing.

They outfitted one of the rooms attached to the den as a library with big cozy chairs, it's nice.
Comparably far less nice than our digs in either Manila or the US and also located in a spot with poor lighting but I forgot the most important family Bible of all:
It's got side by side translations. I bring it with us a few times a week when we go to local vernacular Mass to try to follow along.

I wish I were in the US to grab a pic but we picked up an absolutely massive antique Bible that had been used as a lectionary in a Baptist congregation just for fun. The size of it is very impressive. It dwarfs any Catholic versions I've seen in person.
For actual use we have kinda midrange leatherbound versions of the KJV, RSVCE/NRSVCE, NABRE and the Jerusalem Bible with Tolkein's translation of Jonah. I stopped spending as much though because I don't want to damage anything fancy with my grubby little paws and I just use my kindle anyway so it's mostly a vanity project.
