IDK but I shared this with @IStillMissIStillMissEd the other day and it's relevant. @kaamrev I know you generally disdain us but you might like the Catholic Workers movement and Dorothy Day.
i believe i am somewhat libertarian in nature, and would probably be a filthy lib-right in nature, since i have made my disdain of highly centralized bureaucracies, that if they give way to corruption/nepotism, then the whole machine decays as with South Africa
I have never understood the fascination so many leftists had with centralizing so many industries and sectors of society - it's like they imagine corruption only exists in private enterprises, like only corporations catering towards shareholders can be greedy.
As an african i have seen just as many public institutions implode due to nepotistic bureaucrats never having to fear losing their jobs, while private enterprises ironically hold the greater reputation for honesty, competence and earnest workmanship - NOT because our private businesses are inherently MORE honest or honerable than oversees, but because in sheer fricking comparison, the ANC government is really that corrupt, so that people are literally forced to buy clean drinking water in the Free State province, from private bottling companies, so as not to get sick, because our fricking Sewage recycling refineries are all mismanaged!
And i have seen this in every single Southern African country, from Namibia to Mozambique (even the best doing Botswana has this type of economic decay in local districts)
I'm some lunatic libertarian fanatic who espouses capitalism as some golden bullet to be the cure for all mankind's ailments like Neoliberal cucks, but because so many commies and leftists and socialists seem to focus exclusively towards centralization and their infinite nanny states, imagining as if public bureaucrats will somehow be magically selected from a different pool of humanity, than those greedy middle management and CEOs who drive their companies into the dust to serve shareholders, it's insane to me
Understand @nuclearshill the environment in which i find myself compared to the rest of you, maybe I am a rightoid, but the world I view is formed by those whose actions have inflicted economic harm to everyone around me. In the West, it is greedy corporations driving products and services into enshittification, in my world private companies are the only ones you can trust over literally ANY fricking public sector service:
Private Post Courier companies have COMPLETELY replaced the once proud safrican Post Office past decade, because postal workers fricking rip open your parcels to check for anything to steal!
Additionally, our entire fricking inland transport of goods have transferred from Railway to Trucking companies, because PRASA, the South African public monopoly for our railways, has been every bit as incompetent and inept as the rest of the ANC, gradually degrading over the past 30 years, so that nobody trusts any transport institution from the public sector, otherwise your goods or supplies will get stolen! 30 years ago 80% of ALL goods in terms of weight were transported via rail, today that has more than inverted.
Absolutely NO chain shopping enterprise will do business with Trucking companies or suppliers whom do not have a reliable reputation, and that reputation is firmly within the private sector in south africa, especially in the Low Trust society in safrica.
I go on like this to make you understand how I'm a rightoid, as I've witnessed regulatory capture choking small rural towns to death with no economic activity, while ANC b-word about white upper class being the barrier against providence in the country.
but note that even a fool like me finds Ayn Rand's positions very extreme. I think the peeps who follow her ideology different from me. I do not believe peeps are strong at all times. It's easy to be strong when you're powerful, it's much harder to be strong when you're at your knees.
All people will at some point in their lifetimes endure great weakness, whether bodily or from economic misery. I've seen many tough guys crumble after getting gravely ill and having to be taken care of by their partners, whilst weak-seaming wispy women endured their ailments like breast cancer like a tigress, never flinching or complaining in the face of the oncoming horror.
I've only myself reached my position in life due to the sacrifice of my parents and family - I'm under no illusion of my own exceptionalism. Others have worked just as hard as I but have failed due to fate.
I have also seen how many charity organizations like the oldest boer Solidariteit supported so many in need in times of trouble - so I do understand the need and righteousness of labour unionists and reformists having looked out for the welfare of the downtrodden and the needy.
Perhaps mixed market economies will be the best future for humanity, I don't know how to fix nation states so much in disrepair, but I have seen too many leftists vying for perfection, and being the enemy of good.
In the West, it is greedy corporations driving products and services into enshittification
Oh the greedy Western Corps are still better and more productive than public corps. Speaking for Brazil I think turning Eletrobras into a mixed company (half government owned, half privately owned) is a nice balance for a strategic sector of national importance (electricity generation).
I've witnessed regulatory capture choking small rural towns to death with no economic activity, while ANC b-word about white upper class being the barrier against providence in the country
Third-world leftoids always create unnecessary bureaucracy, basically they want the government to be the main employer to get power so they gotta kill competition with regulations. Countries like South Africa where there's a large informal economy would benefit immensely of de-regulation, heck it would even help the government as you could properly tax that economy once it grows and formalizes.
Daaaaaaamn, yo!!! !chuds!accelerationists My neighbor @kaamrev here just dropped a "truth nvke pager" not seen since PLATO released his sick as frick Cave story

when you live ur whole life as a renthog and the outside environment around you is a 'public space' that someone else built, its easy to see why youd go collectivist and have no concept of personal property or privacy
when you live ur whole life as a landowner and your outside environment is your kingdom to which your rules and yours alone apply, you believe completely different things
there is no world where I could have been saved from going down an 'alt-right pipeline' on youtube for instance because I wasn't just introduced to those ideas out of the blue, I alreaty believed them.
that being said I have no idea about our suburban counterparts who literally do nothing and don't experience life outside of media and their subdivision.
I never really understood the targeted harassment of Alex Jones. He basically just served as the outlet for Crazy Person News and was the mouthpiece for whatever crazy people on the internet were talking about that week. All the Sandy Hook and "Pizzagate" stuff he barely reported on were just collated reports of weird stuff people on 4chan, abovetopsecret, etc. nooooticed and speculated on. Conspiracy nuts don't need a figurehead like that and generally thrive more without one.
But yes. Suburbcels literally live in fortified castles with their only exposure to the outside world being through a media outlet of their choosing, so if someone has off kilter beliefs they assume it is the result of a transmission from a different source. They are truly the worst amerikkka has to offer and tragically a large % of the voting bloc

The corruption is not a side product of leftoid politics, it's the main objective. Complete control allows them to plunder everything not bolted down to the ground, all they have to do is a throw a crumb to the gibsmedat 75IQ voters, who are mentally incapable of imagining a world where there isn't a politician boot on their neck.
I imagine it's the same in SA as it is in Brazil, where a strong state is so ingrained in people's head they can't even imagine not being crushed under a massive, oppressive incompetent state.
Even our "rightoid" boomers are like this
X public service is terrible we should get rid of it

We already spend too much on it and there's no sign of improvement

I would say that she's an example of a positive form of libertarian principles and that the values she espoused (consistently butting heads with the Magisterium) have in them some of the more admirable aspects of reformers in general. Catholics don't (shouldn't) deny that there was/is corruption within the hierarchy demanding change.
Mostly I pinged @kaamrev because he was insulting Ayn Rand and I had a relevant meme in my arsenal having just shared it. Also because it's late and I'm tired and I love pinging.

My take would be fricking that Christianity teaches where evil men will end up without true repentance. 1/12 of the fricking Apostles were fricking betrayers and we bat much better than that average, so I guess God's permissive will allows for unfortunate and evil things in the fricking Church not just in the fricking world in general.
Technically yes. But it's ultimately a midwit take because the real point of self-help books and speakers isn't about following the actual contents to a T but just getting hyped and motivated off the rhetoric.
Dimwits can unironically change their lives for the better with self-help content even when their advice is objectively shit, because getting motivated to act is usually the biggest hurdle for most people in the first place. Similarly genuinely smart people can let themselves jump on a motivational hype train and mindset while still applying their own rationality where it matters. It's the midwit that constantly revels in his own knowledge of things as a kind of reassurance of his capacity to still act (yes I am aware of the irony and no it does not help me).
