Kafka is the quintessential Sensitive Young Man (Literally Me) I enjoyed the book greatly. His prose is quite unusual in how it sucks you in.

While he understood everything, it seems like at the end he was more focused on looking for foodstuffs than paying attention to the fact his sister wanted to get rid of him.

The dehumanisation was complete, he ceased to see himself as human anymore and lacked any confidence to assert his being so reverts to immediate instinctual concerns.
