Detective man from old TV show. Known for pretending to give up on interrogating a suspect(who the audience already knows did it) but then saying "one more thing" and catching them in one final mistake.
columbo, obviously. matlock had a great PI (two, actually. tyler and conrad. we don't count that fat guy and the dippy b-word), and knew the law, but most of the cases he solved weren't all that complicated, except for the one where the guy printed out a high quality photo of a person's face and wore it like a mask, intentionally getting captured by a traffic camera to frame someone. he ended up getting caught because matlock noticed the angle of the shadow on the driver's "face" couldn't have looked that way at that time of night.
anyway, columbo was awesome and believe it or not, the very first columbo movie was directed by a young up-and-comer named Speilberg.
It was an old detective show where you would start each episode seeing how the murder happened and who did it. Then you'd follow Columbia as he figured it out. He would pretty much always at the end of the episode out his hand to bis head and go " oh just one more thing" and ask a question that cracked it all ope. It was a good show.
the show actually had the weirdest schedule of seasons. it would take "breaks / hiatus" for YEARS at a time only to come back with five or six episodes for another season. the last season was in like 1992. So good, though. just a great show.
Maybe the ones that had to watch reruns with their grandparents might know. It's not the kind of show you watch with them like for instance watching Gunsmoke reruns with your grandpa like when I was a kid.

And Colombo had the best guest star villains. Ricardo Montalban, Jose Ferrer, Robert Vaughn, Bill Shatner.

You sure that wasn't a Columbo? I don't think I've ever seen Matlock but I remember this story.

I'm with you there, I feel like this was a Columbo story.
I looked it up and it's called "Columbo and the Murder of a Rock Star".

Ok you’re right, I looked it up and it was the first proper EPISODE, not the pilot film. Still, this was pre-Jaws Spielberg
