Basically Grand Theft horse. The second one is apparently super long and like playing a movie at parts, with a lot of long conversations between characters. I never played that one though.
If you think you might enjoy it it may be worth getting the zombie dlc as well. It has its own separate campaign with substantial length. Lots of cool weapons and supernatural horses. The enemy variety is pretty bad and combat gets a little stale by the end though.
I really enjoyed RDR2. I normally despise story games, but RDR2 did a good job of keeping me engaged and caring about what I did. Also the world is cool as heck, they did a good job. Chuds will sometimes b-word because the game says slavery and the KKK bad, but it keeps the preaching to a pretty tame level.
It's been over a decade since I've played the first one and you don't to have to understand the story of 2. It's good too, but it has that clunkiness like most games from 15 years ago.
If you look at mobile games in china you can see a different story. There's the traditional female games, gacha games for women. But you can also add the social aspect to other genres and get a large female audience, such as honor of kings (league knockoff), identity v(dbd knockoff), genshin, etc.

My wife replays rdr2 at least once a year and has almost every sims dlc ever made. Women love boring chill games I guess.

Rdr 1 isn't any slower than your average GTA game. It was one of my fav games but that was a decade ago so I don't have all the details.

If you have the attention span for it I'm sure it's a great game I just can't be bothered with slow story driven video games.
