rDrama now has edit logs. Was Berzel (SpaceMilk) right all along?

None

If you accidentally post information that could get you doxxed you ought to do the smart thing and overwrite it, then delete it. Except that anyone who has access to janny privileges (including hackers) will still have the original version of your deleted-and-overwritten comment and dox you with it. If someone on the mod team is too unhinged and breaks down, if you wrong one of the jannies in such a way that they throw a tantrum against you, if one of the jannies is kicked out and they retaliate against the site, or if we get hacked - you are at risk of being doxxed.

There is no longer any precautions or method to prevent this from happening.

Remember all those times where the site glitched out and people were logged into random accounts, including admin accounts? Imagine if we have that glitch again and someone who is logged into a janny account decides to comb the database for doxxable info.

Governments, agencies, and companies already have regular scandals where the people you are supposed to trust have abused their positions of power and exploit the information they have of you. And that's normal people with jobs and families.

Do you honestly trust jannies of a gay incel cat cult to be less unhinged and neurodivergent?

This site is dedicated to drama. It is inevitable that somewhere down in the future, a janny is going to go apeshit and cause a scandal. Edit logging would turn it from a spectacle into a danger with real life consequences.

Moreover, they also planned on preventing users from seeing their own deleted comments, but would secretly still be able to view them and they were going to withhold this information from the entire userbase. They planned on deceiving every single one of you on your Right to Privacy and what happens to your information / who can see it / how you can control it.

Every single admin except carp are complicit in attempting to rob every user here of the right to know what happens with their data, their ability to control who gets it and who doesn't. Carp was the only one who voted AGAINST this measure, all others voted FOR it and wanted to keep it secret from YOU.

I don't care much about Carp. I don't get the cultish fascination some of you have over him. But:

carpathianflorist is the ONLY person on leadership who took a stand, prevent its implementation, and whistleblow on what would happen to your data. His "spergout" protected you from this invasive policy.

add edit logs

https://rdrama.net/post/75616/adminscodecelsjannies-are-going-to-implement-edit

Admins/Codecels/Jannies are going to implement EDIT LOGGING. In other words, there will be NO WAY TO ERASE YOUR POSTS/COMMENTS. EVERYTHING YOU SUBMIT HERE WILL BE SAVED AND SEEN BY ANYONE WHO IS GIVEN JANNY STATUS. Editing will no longer be able to protect your Privacy.

@SpaceMilk was right!

It appears to log the old text of a post/comment when you make an edit unless the edit was made within 3 minutes of the post/comment's creation. Only jannies can view edits. (TOTAL JANNY DEATH! Let us view our own edits!)

Edit: You can view your own edits now.

@A also told me @TwoLargeSnakesMating supported adding edit logs. :marseycry: He's not a janny anymore though.

rDrama now has edit logs. What are your thoughts? Edit logs only start taking effect 3 minutes after the post/comment's creation.

You can view your own edits, and jannies can view anyone's edits.

minor clarification: they only start taking effect after 3 minutes have passed

so if u posted dox accidentially and immediately removed it, we can't see that

Is this retroactive? As in can janitors see edits from before the change?

I wonder if you could increase the grace period, maybe to 15 minutes or an hour? I sometimes don't notice what I posted for a long time. :marseycry:

5-10 minutes would be preferable, yes. Though 3 minutes likely catches some of my many, many typo edits, the less of my stupidity on display the better.

I added that to my comment.

The entire table is now a link, and it makes it hard to copy and paste the text. Can you fix this?
