a !catholics or prot one? they are quite different.
i didn't pick up on a whole lot of fire and brimstone personally. the fact god loves even sinners, and that the love was generated by god the lover, not by the actions of sinner, was emphasized a few times.
i picked up more-so a strong desire for peace and love for all, regardless of all the ungodly sin we're still mired within. i felt that sentiment there, more-so than anywhere else i've been. it's a sentiment that i deeply yearn for that to, but seem to lack really much place to express or act on it. it was hard not cry from the sadness i felt in just how many people still lack any awareness of the message
what it god i was feeling? or was i "just" vibing with the focus of the conscious awareness that in that room with me? is using "just" unfairly diminishing in the last sentence? perhaps we're all just god experience in the process of awakening, so the point is really moot... and we just haven't realized it yet to the extent that we ought.
the rituals specifically are a bit silly from a rational standpoint... but we've kinda failed so miserably to bring peace and love to all, so that maybe those rituals were irrational things we needed, and still need, to cling to just to keep the message alive through all the shit we're still going thu.
to me religion is part of humanity weaving it's own narrative, in accordance with some higher perspective we haven't truly figured out yet.
walking that line is of course quite fine. there's only so much fate one can push at a time. don't be john allen chau

Well maybe it was in the 80 Years' War. Fighting for your national survival for 80 years can actually affect you.

Just be a protestant it's way easier. Hardest part is dealing with other protestants in the same boat but there are some real nice ones

You've never lived if you haven't seen a fat guy jaywalk across 82nd Avenue in Portland on a scooter because he was so fricking lazy he couldn't take 3 fricking minutes to go to the crosswalk.

You sound
like such a f@qqot
Its 100% far more honest / better
to be a straight up atheist
than one of those queers who say "oh everything is a metaphor, 🥺religon is huwomanity weaving its own narrative/ trying to make sense of the world, religon
is there
to make us feel good🥺"

atheism is a religious belief that doesn't even admit it's a religious belief

atheism is total hypocrisy, and therefore can't be 100% far more honest

God only "loves sinners" if they prostrate themselves before Him.
Otherwise, they get to burn in Heck for eternity. 🔥

tbh i think the church is easing up on that (maybe not entirely uniformly?), and focusing more on the love and peace aspect... cause heck doesn't really make much sense as concept,

TL;DR:
@goderator200 attended a Catholic/Protestant church service and was moved by the emphasis on love and peace, but struggled to connect with it due to their own lack of expression and action. They're still searching for meaning in a world full of irrationality.
P.S. Oh great, another hot mess of a person trying to find meaning in life, probably spent most of their weekend binge-watching Netflix instead of attending church. #justvibing"
